FAQ - things to know before travelling

What time of travel documentation is needed?

Passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of your return. This is a general requirement for most countries and failure to comply may result in denied entry. Please check the expiration date of your passport well in advance of your trip to avoid any issues.

Some countries will require obtaining tourist visa; therefore, all travelers are responsible for obtaining the relevant visa prior the traveling time. Wishlist Getawaysis not responsible for securing any visas required for your tour. We are also not liable for any denied visa applications or related requests, nor for any visa-related issues that may arise upon arrival at your destination.

For more information about visa requirements visit this website.

What is my luggage allowance?

Guest on our tour is permitted one piece of hold luggage and one piece of hand luggage.

Hold Luggage: Your main suitcase, which will be checked-in for the flight and stored beneath the coach, must not exceed 23kg (50lbs) in weight and should measure no more than 76cm x 45cm x 25cm (30” x 18” x 10”). Please note that in some destinations, health and safety regulations limit the amount of weight Porters and Drivers can handle. As such, the 23kg (50lbs) limit is strictly enforced. Be sure to check the weight of your luggage before departure—you should be able to lift and carry it short distances on your own.

Hand Luggage: Your hand luggage must fit within the dimensions of 30cm x 28cm x 14cm (12” x 11” x 6”) and be small enough to stow under your coach seat or in the limited overhead storage. Unlike airplanes, our coaches offer minimal storage space inside. For this reason, hand luggage with telescopic handles or wheels is not permitted during the tour.

What should I pack for my upcoming tour?

Weather conditions at your travel destination can change, so we recommend packing layered clothing to stay comfortable. Helpful tips about the destination will be in your travel pack, offering you personalized packing suggestions based on the local forecast. These are the must-have items that should be in your luggage: travel documents & a copy of your tour contract, medication, phone & charging devices & adaptor plugs, sun hat (summer months), sunglasses, light waterproof jacket (summer months), warm waterproof coat (winter months), comfortable flat shoes / trainers/ sneakers, shoulder covering like a scarf or blouse as some experience may visit to cathedrals or other religious locations where there may be a restriction on shorts / mini-skirts and bare shoulders.

Do I need to bring electrical adaptors?

Electrical plugs, voltage, and outlet types vary from country to country. We do not provide travel adaptors, so we recommend bringing a universal adaptor compatible with the destinations on your itinerary.

How much travel money should I bring with me?

The amount of pocket money is completely up to you. Every traveler has different budgets when they travel. However, when preparing your travel budget, we suggest that you consider the below the expenses:
budgeting for any Optional Experiences you may plan to do when you’re on your tour, budgeting for food & drinks/meal that are not included in the tour (e.g. lunches and beverages, alcoholic drinks, snacks etc.), shopping you may like to do at your own cost (e.g. souvenirs, local crafted items, clothing etc.) and any incidentals such as laundry or dry cleaning.

Do I need to purchase local currency before I travel?

If you decide to obtain local currency before your trip, we recommend requesting smaller denomination notes, as some local shops and restaurants may not accept larger bills.

Most major credit cards—such as Visa, American Express, and MasterCard—are widely accepted at hotels and retail outlets around the world. However, be aware that there may be a minimum spend requirement for card payments and there will be currency conversion rates involved. It's also increasingly common for merchants to ask for identification when processing credit card transactions, so be sure to carry your passport/driver’s license with you while on tour.

What do I need to know about border control, visa entry requirements and passports?

Visa and entry requirements vary depending on your destination. Please refer to the specific region you're traveling to for more details:

Europe Tours
It is each guest’s responsibility to ensure their passport is valid for at least six months beyond the end of their trip and that all necessary visas and permits have been secured. If your itinerary includes re-entering a country, a multiple-entry visa may be required.

Only the embassies or consulates of the countries you plan to visit can provide the most accurate and up-to-date visa information. We recommend checking your itinerary carefully and contacting the appropriate consulate or embassy well in advance. Visa requirements vary depending on your nationality, and processing times can be lengthy.

Make sure your multiple-entry visas list the correct entry dates and destinations.

Always carry valid identification, as border officials will check your passport and travel documents. Border crossings are typically smooth and coordinated by your Travel Leader/Director, though you may occasionally be asked to open your luggage or answer basic questions regarding your travel plans.

United Kingdom and Northern Ireland (including transit travelers)
Beginning January 8, 2025, travelers entering or transiting through the UK and Northern Ireland must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) in advance. The ETA costs £16 and is valid for two years.

For more details, visit our dedicated ETA information page. For additional entry requirements, please consult your local UK consulate or embassy.

Other Worldwide Destinations
Guests must ensure their passport is valid for at least six months beyond the end of their trip and that all necessary visas are obtained before departure. Visa requirements vary by nationality and destination, and processing can take up to six weeks. We strongly recommend consulting the appropriate consulate or embassy as early as possible to confirm which visas are required and how to apply.

Can I bring my medication with me?

It’s essential to research the regulations regarding bringing medication into your destination country, including any documentation or proof of treatment you may need. As requirements vary by country, Wishlist Getaways is unable to conduct this research on your behalf, we recommend checking with the relevant embassy or health authority before you travel.

Medication Checklist:

  • Bring enough medication to last your full trip, with a few days’ surplus just in case.

  • Make sure all prescriptions are current and medications are in their original packaging.

  • Keep your medication in your carry-on luggage, along with copies of your prescription in case your checked bag is delayed or lost.

Airport Security Guidelines:

  • Liquid restrictions do not apply to medications, but it’s best to confirm requirements with your airline and departure airport prior to traveling.

  • Medications may be brought onboard if you have the appropriate documentation, which must be arranged in advance of your departure.

Destination-Specific Medication Rules

  • Regulations vary by country. For example, in some countries you are advised to carry both your prescription medication and a doctor’s letter to present at customs if needed.

  • Always check official government health websites or contact the embassy of your destination country for up-to-date medication policies.

Over-the-Counter Medications:

  • Common over-the-counter medications like paracetamol are not available on the coach.

  • Your Travel Leader/Director can advise where to purchase these locally, should the need arise during your tour.

Refrigerated Medication:

  • While we will do our best to accommodate requests for refrigeration of medication, it may not always be possible due to circumstances beyond our control.

  • Please contact us prior to your departure to evaluate if this request can be accommodated.

If you have any health conditions or dietary concerns that could impact your travels, such as severe allergies requiring an EpiPen/auto-injector - please notify us in advance. This helps ensure we can offer the support you may need during your trip.

Do I need specific vaccinations for the tour?

Please consult your doctor before traveling to determine whether any vaccinations or health precautions are recommended for your destination. While most countries do not currently require mandatory vaccinations, regulations can change - so it’s important to verify the latest official health and entry requirements before your trip.

Although COVID-19 vaccination is not a requirement anymore, we recommend that all guests are vaccinated prior to departure for their own safety and well-being.

May I allowed to bring my wheelchair or motorized scooter on my tour?

If you have any specific mobility needs - such as traveling with a wheelchair, service animal, mobility scooter, or other mobility equipment - these must be communicated at the time of booking by completing our Specific Form.

If you have already made your booking, please contact us as soon as possible to request the form. Our team will review your request to ensure the chosen tour can offer you a comfortable travel experience. This includes providing detailed guidance on traveling with mobility aids, as well as important considerations related to your specific tour or destination—such as coach accessibility, space limitations, terrain conditions, and any internal procedures we may need to coordinate, including those that involve your fellow travelers. Not all the tours are designed for guests with mobility restrictions.
