Spain, a country on Europe’s Iberian Peninsula, includes 17 autonomous regions with diverse geography and cultures. Capital city Madrid is home to the Royal Palace and Prado museum, home of European art masters.

Spain became a member of the European Union on January 1, 1986 and occupies most of the Iberian Peninsula, stretching south from the Pyrenees Mountains to the Strait of Gibraltar, which separates Spain from Africa. To the east lies the Mediterranean Sea, including Spain's Balearic Islands. Spain also rules two cities in North Africa and the Canary Islands in the Atlantic.

Highlights of Spain

Spain offers an unforgettable journey through history, culture, and stunning landscapes. In Madrid, the vibrant capital, visitors can explore world-class museums and royal palaces. Just a short trip away, Toledo enchants with its medieval streets and the imposing Alcázar. In the south, Granada captivates with the breathtaking Alhambra, while Seville dazzles with its flamenco spirit, grand cathedral, and the Real Alcázar. Perched dramatically above a gorge, Ronda showcases whitewashed charm and spectacular views. Along the Mediterranean coast, Valencia blends futuristic architecture with golden beaches and the birthplace of paella. Together,  all these highlights reveal the rich diversity that makes Spain truly extraordinary.

Spain’s largest palace, built in the 18th century on the site of a former Moorish fortress, it boasts over 3,000 lavishly decorated rooms filled with priceless art, tapestries, and historic treasures. Although it is the official residence of the Spanish royal family, it is primarily used for state ceremonies and remains open to the public

Also called "Pueblos Blancos," are a collection of charming, historic towns in Andalusia, Spain. These are known for their distinct whitewashed buildings, steep, narrow streets, and traditional architecture, often featuring Moorish influences.

The Alcázar sits prominently above the city, making it one of Toledo’s most iconic landmarks. Its commanding presence has made it an important military fortress throughout history, but nowadays serves as the Army Museum of Spain and a library.
